Announcement

In August, 2008, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC) plan to announce a solicitation for applications proposing drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects.  Eligible projects must be located within the 100 Km (62.5 mile) border region of the US and Mexico; must address an existing environmental and human health need related to the absence of or inadequate drinking water or wastewater infrastructure; and must  have a US-side benefit.  Funding assistance for these projects will be made available from EPA FY2009 / FY2010 border program funding through the Project Development Assistance Program (PDAP), administered by the BECC, and the Border Environmental Infrastructure Fund (BEIF) administered by the North American Development Bank (NADB).  The final project selection is anticipated to be announced by early spring of 2009. We encourage all potential project sponsors and other interested parties to look for the formal announcement.  For more information or to request a direct copy of the formal announcement, please contact Armando Carrasco at acarrasco@cocef.org
